Dear Dr. Libby,
Thank you for allowing current and future students to experience the true Hatter experience. I understand you are constantly networking for Stetson and making monumental business relationships to enhance our campus. We appreciate the vibrant green grass that makes great timeless Snapchats, the different athletic events that allow students to show their comradery, and the numerous cultural credit events I personally enjoy attending.
In the three semesters I have attended Stetson, I have learned a plethora of lifelong lessons that pertain to my college career and life. Never “trust” to leave your laundry detergent, a proper citation will determine whether you pass or fail a class, and always schedule weekly calls to your concerned parents. Personally, the most pertinent blessing is the involvement made available to all types of students. Being a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, an executive board member in the Caribbean Student Association, and the President of Elite Stetson Steppers truly displays the skill of time management and how to utilize Stetson values.
However, my home is being ripped away from me.
I hope this article is not the last publication I make as a Stetson student, but due to the negligence I’m experiencing from Financial Aid, my enrollment status might change permanently. With the rising cost of tuition, it seems that Stetson is doing little to ensure my education through adequate financial assistance after the first year. When did "dare to be significant" become "dare to take out extra loans?"
A Hatter represents poise, individuality, and a model for other college students. Being a part of this green and white family teaches me professionalism and healthy work ethic. I appreciate the friends I have accumulated and the weight I gained from Johnny Rockets.
As a representative for all struggling students, we want to inform your Administration that we’re grateful for you and ask to consider comprehending our stories into significant financial raises. We want to be Hatters, but it seems like we can't afford it. Thank you for continuing to lead this great institution, and I hope to see it grow next semester.
