Friendship can be a weird thing when it’s mostly made up of texting and various interactions through social media. That is how our friendship began and it continues this way. We live on complete opposite ends of the country and I can no longer say this in person, here are a couple of things I am incredibly thankful for in this friendship.
Thank you for texting me when you know that I need it the most. Whether it’s a simple “I miss you” or a novel about why you’re grateful I’m your friend, a long day is always better knowing that I’ll have some positivity coming at me from the other side of my phone.
Thank you for planning trips to see each other with me so that the distance seems more bearable. I know that our schedules are crazy and we might not actually get around to being able to see each other, but knowing that the option is always there is comforting.
Thank you for asking me for advice and for giving me some as well. You know my soul like no other and will give me tough love even when I don’t want it. I always benefit from it in the long run and am forever grateful at your ability to yell at me out of love for the stupid things that I do.
Thank you for answering my 2 a.m. phone calls. Every crisis seems a thousand times worse the later the night gets but I know that if I ever need to cry, vent, or sort out the thoughts that are in my head that don’t make sense, you’ll be on the other end of the line listening.
Thank you for cherishing the time that we spent together in person as much as I did. I won’t ever forget the lazy day we spent in my pool just talking or the drives blasting our favorite band and eating ice cream, feeling absolutely invincible as the sun disappeared in the sky.
I am a better person with you in my life and I know that no matter how much time passes, we can always pick up the phone and begin right where we had left off. I miss you and I can’t wait until we are together again, wreaking havoc in whatever city or state we decide to venture into next.
Sincerely,
Your East Coast Partner In Crime
