A few years ago, had someone asked me about the woman my brother was to marry, I would have affirmatively answered that no girl would ever be good enough. I was certain that no one would be enough for the sweetheart I have for a brother. After meeting you, though, I have been proven wrong.
I want to thank you:
1. For being a role model. I pray that one day I can be more like you. You inspire me to be a better person. In all things, I hope to model you and your behavior. You give me advice on life decisions, and I always know I can call you when I need you. I fail often, but I try to make the decisions I believe you would make. You have been an unbelievably positive influence on my life.
2. For being an amazing friend and partner to my brother. I have never seen my brother as happy as he is with you. I would never have believed that anyone would be enough for my brother; I thought that I would be forced to accept whomever he brought home. I had clearly never met you. When I see you and my brother, the love is evident.
3. For embracing my family. You entered the family as if you were one of our own. It was so natural. My parents immediately took to you, just as I did. You take on household responsibilities as if you are part of the family, not to make yourself look good, but because you care. You are as much a part of the family as any of us. You are missed on holidays when you aren’t here and you are wanted on every special occasion. You are one of us now, for better or worse.
4. For being loving and accepting. I have my faults. I have plenty of them, at that. I have made many mistakes, and you have been around to see a lot of them. You have seen me at my worst, yet you never judge me. You love me unconditionally, just like my family. Your love is patient, and your love is kind. I appreciate your advice, and I appreciate you not giving up on me when I fail to take it. I am still growing and learning; and I love you for understanding that.
5. For being my friend. Most of all, I love that you have been my friend. You cared enough about me to get to know me on a personal level. Spending time alone with me to get to know me and giving me advice about life meant more to me than you will ever know. Because of the times we have spent together, I love you not only as my brother’s fiancé, but also as my own friend. I find myself wanting to be a better person, not just because you are my role model, but because you are my friend and I do not want to let you down.
You are so much more than my brother’s fiancé. You are a friend, a sister, and role model. You are exactly what my brother needs, and you are a blessing in my life as well. I never knew anyone could measure up to my brother, but I should have known that someone like him could find someone as amazing as you.
