Open Letter to My College Best Friend

Dear ________ ,

I know we just met this semester, but I already know how much I love you. I love how we were introduced by a mutual friend and we automatically clicked. I love how I knew I wanted to be your friend from the moment we met, because you seemed like the coolest person ever. I love how since we've met we have bonded more than I ever thought we could.

Usually, when you meet someone, you know from that moment if you want to be their friend or not. With you honestly I knew I wanted to be your friend right from the start, but I was super intimidated by you at the same time. I knew that I wanted to be your friend by your style and your sarcastic yet hilarious tone of voice. Even though we have different backgrounds, stories, and interests I feel like we relate in a way only best friends can.

Another thing about you is that I love how supportive you are. I can always depend on you to be there when I need you, and I want you to know that I will also always be there for you. I know that if I call you, you will always answer. If I text you, you will always reply. I can always depend on you to tell me exactly what's up, and exactly how I'm acting. You always tell me if I am being ridiculous and aren't afraid of what I will say if you try and talk some sense into me. You are my rock. I promise you I need your advice and support. Remember I can sometimes be a crazy person, but that's just a part of who I am. However, you already know that about me.

I hope you know that with you I always know we will have a good time. It's a given. With you I know that when we have fun, we know how to have fun. It is always an adventure with you. Whether it's our trips to Walmart to get basic things and come back with live animals, to our crazy, spontaneous, and oh so memorable nights out. With you I know it will always be a good time. We have our inside jokes, and I'm pretty sure we have made a handshake.. but I can't fully remember it. We always stick together, and watch out for each other the best we can. We always start dancing to our favorite songs whenever and wherever they come on. We always bring good vibes and good times anywhere we go, it's just what we do.

What it all comes down to is that you are my best friend. You watch out for me, and I do the same for you. I honestly believe that we met for a reason, and that reason is to become best friends. I believe we met in order to be side by side in our crazy journey through college. I see us being friends even after college, because I feel as if you and I will be life-long friends. I wish you could see the way I see you or how so many other people see you, because then you would feel so much happier and prouder of yourself. However, I am here to be the one to remind you how much of a truly "dope" friend you are.

To end, I just want to say thank you for coming into my life, and becoming my best friend in this short amount of time. I have learned in this short time that you are the friend I never thought would come into my life, and now you are the friend that will never leave my life. I can't wait for next semester and all the other good times that follow.

Just want you to know that you're my best friend, whether you like it or not!

Sincerely,

Your College Best Friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
