Dear High School Senior me,

Don't worry. You did it.

I know exactly how you feel right now. Decision day was just a few days ago and everyone came to school wearing their college t-shirts and hats. It should have been a happy day for you but instead, you felt riddled with anxiety. The idea of graduating high school and moving onto college was a scary thought. The future was known and unknown at the same time. You knew where you wanted to spend the next four years but you had no idea what those next four years would throw at you.

One of those four years has just ended for me. The first one, to be more specific.

So that means you survived a couple of months away from home in a new home. You can breathe a sigh of relief in learning this information.

College was not scary as we thought it would be.

We made friends.

We learned new things.

We met professors who actually cared about how we were doing, not only in their class but in life in general.

We got along with our roommate.

We did it.

But it's not over just yet. We have three months to go home and relax before we have to go back and conquer sophomore year head on.

Not everything was peachy keen at times. There were hard moments. Moments where all you wanted to do was cry and moments where you couldn't fight back the tears. There was drama and severed relationships. But there was always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Your parents were always a phone call away when you just wanted to talk and catch up or you had a life or death question. You kept in touch with your closest high school friends.

You got involved.

You made the Dean's List.

You became an Honors student.

You have a lot going for you.

So as you wait for graduation now, there is no need to worry if you will survive.

Because you did and everything is going to be just fine.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
