A Letter To The Tina Fey To My Amy Poehler

You've taught me so much more than how to use sarcasm as a coping mechanism.

The most iconic friendship in history between two women is the relationship between Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. These two women are intelligent, hard-working, driven, and hilarious. They are absolutely inspiring and are the best way I can define my relationship with my best friend, Hayley.

1. Just like Tina and Amy, the most important part of our relationship is that we support each other in all aspects of life.

This semester I decided to study abroad and my Tina supported me along the whole journey I took to actually get to Spain. Even in those last moments before I left I could call her and cry and say that I couldn’t leave. Roomy, Tina, you’ve encouraged me to be so much more than I am and I thank you for that. I can’t wait for you to study abroad in England and get to support you in all of the amazing successes you will have in life! (Cause just like Tina Fey, you’re going to be so damn successful. Lorne Michaels, watch out!)

2. Tina and Amy are strong, independent women, with their own minds.

They make it very clear in the way they live their lives and the work they do that they stand up for things. They are women of character and just like the dynamic duo, my roomy and I, we are both leaders. Hayley, you are a beautiful representation of a millennial catholic and have extensive goals for life, which for these reasons I admire you. You know what you want in life and where you want to be. When I’m faced with a problem I ask myself: What Would Hayley Pisciotti Do?

3. The most crucial part of the relationship between Tina and Amy is their ability to use humor.

And Hayley, we do need to have a TV show because WE. ARE. HILARIOUS. From ripping out Megan Mullally Twitter follower advice and posting it on our mirror, to reenacting every SNL skit Kate McKinnon has ever been, facing every problem in life with a passive-aggressive attitude, or utilizing the upside down smiley face emoji way too much, we know the importance of laughter. Thank you because I have shared some of the best laughs of my life with YOU.

4. Lastly, something Tina and Amy know very well is maintaining a friendship through time.

Even when Tina left SNL or when Amy started Parks and Rec they maintained the beautiful friendship by hosting the Golden Globes and filming Sisters. Roomy, even though we are thousands of miles apart, it’s like no time has passed and we are still back in Rich 303 and watching Beaches in my bed. (Sorry, I had to bring up a little sentiment.)

Hayley, you are the Tina to my Amy and I love you. Thank you for being the best thing to happen to me.

Love,

Roomykins :)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
