I have many things to say this morning.
Many of those things are not polite. Many of them aren't even full sentences, just exasperations.
But right now I have some very specific words about the Presidential election. I have some very specific words for Utah, the 317,275 individuals who voted for Trump, and the portion of those individuals who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I am appalled at all of you. And don't tell me that none of my fellow Mormons, the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, voted to put a man like that in power.
Don't tell me that you are proud of yourselves right now. Don't tell me that several of your, my, our ancestors who walked thousands of miles across America, pursuing religious freedom, are proud of you for voting for a man who wants to throw all Muslims out of the country.
Don't tell me that when Jesus preached of loving thy neighbor as thyself, you're proud of electing a man who wants to build a wall around a country to keep "Mexican rapists" out.
Don't tell me that you are proud of yourself when you voted for a man who disrespects women, who jokes about sexual assault, who hit on his own daughter.
Don't tell me you support Donald Trump saying Hilary Clinton should be shot--twice--when Joseph Smith was shot and killed as a martyr.
Don't you dare try to tell me that what Trump believe in correspond with your beliefs as a Mormon. Because they do not correspond with mine, also a Mormon.
Even Deseret News, the newspaper owned by the LDS Church, which has remained politically neutral for 80 years, said that Donald Trump should resign his candidacy. You know that the Church doesn't get involved in politics. And yet they denounced this one particular candidate.
So don't try to tell me that you did the right thing as a member of the LDS Church. I don't speak for them, these are my words. But as a fellow Mormon, I don't know how you could support, let alone vote for a man like Donald Trump. I'm appalled, shocked, and angry, Utah Mormons.
