Dear future self,
I'm currently a sophomore in college, and the fall semester is almost over already. Where has the time gone? Time is slipping away so fast, and it's scary to think that in a few years, I will be on my own. The scariest thing about the future is that we have no idea what to expect.
We can try and prepare for it as much as we can or want to, but we have no clue what we will face. We can, however, reassure ourselves and speak positively about the future. The future provides us with something to look forward to, a new journey that we will embark on, and something that we will always and continuously hope for and strive for.
Everyone knows that notorious question: What do you see yourself doing and living in five or ten years? I can say that I see myself as an international journalist who travels around the world and meet people from various cultures. I could also say that I see myself living in a mansion with my family in Calabasas next to Kris Jenner, having my own talk-show and being the next Oprah or Wendy Williams. That would be fantastic no doubt, but the million dollar answer and truthful response is I don't know.
The response of "I don't know" reveals the numerous possibilities and openness of what lies ahead of me. Who knows? Maybe my career goals might come true after all, or maybe I will change career paths. One thing, however, that will not change is my optimism about the present and the future.
Keeping an open mind and not being pessimistic about the future allows one to maintain a positive mindset. I am making a promise to myself that I will put my best foot forward, live my life to the fullest, and pray about the future.
