As I am driving back from my golf tournament the song "Let Us Love" by NeedToBreathe played through my stereo. After listening to this song and replaying it a couple of times the lyrics spoke out to me. The first line of the song holds deep meaning saying "we were born to embrace, not accept it". When I first heard the line I was confused, but as the song continued, I realized the line could not be truer.

We have all these problems in the world, people pointing fingers, people blaming Christians, non-Christians, the list goes on! The song "Let Us Love" is about piecing together a broken world solely on loving one another. The first line "We were born to embrace, not accept it" If you're confused, let me walk you through it. As Christians God wants us to love everyone and that means embracing them. The definition of embrace is to accept or support one's belief, theory or change willingly and enthusiastically. Love people with all you have even is you disagree with them.

I was raised to love everyone no matter their skin color, gender, or sexual orientation. To me being a Christian does not mean bashing other people's way of living. I want to help and love people like Jesus loves me. He loves me when I sin, He loves me at my absolute darkest, and that's why I love everyone. If He can love you at your darkest, why can't you find it in your heart to love everyone? This verse explains how he loved us. In Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Read it again in case you missed it, "while we are still sinners" he still loves us. What an incredible feeling it is to be loved by our God. Take the love he pours out and give it to other people.

In the song another line spoke out to me so clearly. "Let us love like we were children" '

Do you remember what it was like to be a child? We were friends with everyone, we hung out with whoever we wanted and we loved one another. As children, we didn't know the difference and we certainly did not hate people for what they were.

The next couple of verses in the song are just as powerful:

How could we be something
Every heart has an hour of existence
Every breath brings a chance for redemption
If somehow we could wake up

Let us love
Like we were children
Make us feel
Like we're still living
In a world I know that's burning to the ground
Give us time
To beat the system
Make us find
What we've been missing
In a world I know that's burning to the ground

In the crowd of the dead and disappointed
We're ashamed, giving up on what we wanted
Take a chance on a long shot this time
Aren't we all just at least worth another try

I'm a king in a land of abuses
Undermined by the promise of excuses
Who's to win if we know that it's not fair
Who's to fight when it seems that no one cares
If somehow we could wake up

We have strayed away from the word love and started judging, criticizing and hating people. That is not how God intended his people to live. Even when someone has wronged you and you see them as an enemy love them and pray for them. When you show unconditional love it can change how you feel everyday. When you constantly have hate in your heart you're not filling your heart with the words of Jesus.

Guys, Jesus wants his people to live through him and walk according to his purpose. Fill your hearts with love, not hate. Everyone is worth loving even you are. We all fall short of what he wants and we aren't perfect, but that's ok because He loves us. Take a chance and try to open your heart because I promise you that someone out there needs your love. Someone needs to hear the wonderful words of Jesus. Who knows how far your love can extend to. Who knows who you could help by reaching out a warm touch.

You can't go wrong with loving someone when this world is full of hatred. So let us love like children and make this world feel whole again.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
