How does a leader come to be?
Where does their strength come from?
Can anyone step up to...into the role of leader?
Everyone is born with the ability to become a leader. No one is born being a leader, despite what people might say. Leaders come from a natural ability, that is what we are all born with. The ability to lead people, stand in front of a crowd and inspire, direct and influence. It is something that can be seen when you look at a person, in their demeanor, the way they carry themselves.
This ability is only a foundation for what creates a leader.
A leader is born, but in not in the general sense.
Over the course of one's life there are a series of experiences and opportunities that strengthen them. These experiences prepare them for instances when a leader would be needed and would need to know what to do as that leader. These experiences are different for each individual, and it cannot be known how or whether or not a given experience would affect someone. Same way if two or more people share an experience, each may have a different take away. This idea also stems into the course of opportunity. Yes, it is true that people with money and power can have more chances at opportunities, but more isn't always better.
Professionals or current leaders can try and quantify what a leader is and how to make one. All the books, classes and talks aren't wrong. I would not have the information or means, let alone reason to discredit any of it. I simply mean to add my words to the discussion and be heard. For all I know what I am saying has already been said. But I write what I feel from the heart.
Heart, wait, that's another thing, something rather important in all this: one's heart.
A leader's passion is to better the world around them for the people around them. They work countless hours and a lot of the time, they push their feelings aside to work with people and help see the change. A leader to look up to, to admire, to use as a role model to want to be, is one with heart. Heart for what they do and heart as the forefront of their morals and reason to be in a position of power. Compassion is key.
It is better to have compassion for what one does, then to simply want the title or position for the power that could come with it. Power hungry people care less about the how and more about the now. This kind of leaders have shown us that they aren't necessarily focused on what really needs to be addressed over their own personal agenda.
Therefore, heart and compassion are the right course of action for one wishing to assume a role in leadership.
You don't need to be born a leader. You are born with the ability to learn from what life throws at you. That ability along with a strong heart will guide the way,
Go, LEAD!
