Latinos Voting For Trump: Do Not Speak On My Behalf, I Will NOT Support Him

No entiendo. I can't understand. I can't understand the rationale behind Trump supporters, and to increase my confusion, I see Myriam Witcher throwing her hands up in his support. Why? Just why? Myriam Witcher is a Colombian woman that openly shared her support for Trump in Nevada on October 8, 2015. She not only did say that she would vote for him, but that "We vote for Mr. Trump! We love you all the way to the White House!” Referring to "Hispanics" as the "we."

First, let me begin by saying that I respect her right to vote for whoever she chooses. She legally and humanly has the right to vote for whomever her heart desires. We all have different opinions, and I understand that. However, I don't understand her choice. I don't understand her stance on immigration, being Columbian herself. I don't understand how she feels like she is the exception. I don't understand how she ignores the origins hidden in her accent, and I don't understand how in a foreign tongue she can publicly say that she wants her own people displaced, because that is what violating the Fourteenth Amendment will do; it will displace. It will displace the immigrates that have lived here for years, it will displace the Americans born of undocumented parents, it will displace the people that migrated here as children, it will displace the residents that are hoping for citizenship, and it will displace the people who took a vow to become full citizens. I say displaced, because undocumented immigrants will be forced to relocate. The U.S citizens by birthright will be pushed to a new region they might have never been to before. If you say, "They should go back to where they belong," well, if they moved, they didn't belong where they came from, and if they were born in the U.S, well, they belong here.

Secondly, her claim might be, "Well, he is targeting Mexican immigrants.” Well, yes, he is, but I bet there has been a time when she was called a Mexican. That's what some people assume: if you look Mexican, you are. I heard stories of some Middle Easterners being called Mexican just based on first appearance. To those that claim this is not a racial issue, that we are "pulling the race card," what do think when you hear "illegal immigrant?" What is the image that pops into your mind when you think Mexican? Do you think of a white-skinned person with colored eyes? No, there are variations in our shades of color. We're mestizos. Unfortunately, if Trump gets his way, do you honestly think he will care if you are Guatemalan, Dominican, Chilean, or Columbian? No, to him we are all the same people. To people like him, if we are not Anglo, we don't belong in America. Not one Latin@ is the exception. Worse, not one minority is the exception, because once Latinos are out, who's the next scapegoat? Who is the next minority classified as murderers and rapists?

Lastly, and most importantly, when she says, "We vote for Mr. Trump! We love you all the way to the White House!” No, señora, you vote for him. Don't speak on my behalf, and don't speak on the behalf of other Latin@s or "Hispanics" who will not be voting for him. I have my own voice -- everyone does -- so don't you dare include all "Hispanics" in your individual choice. I disagree, and I can't understand you, so don't include me. Please, don't speak for me. Porfavor, no hable por mi.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
