KTFO In 13 Seconds

Conor McGregor steals the title of Featherweight Champion right from under Jose Aldo's nose - literally.

“It feels beautiful. I dreamt this so much, so clearly, so precisely, and so frequently that is has manifested itself into reality.”

Conor McGregor's dreams came true and 13 seconds was all it took. It happened so fast that I didn’t even know what I had just seen. What the hell just happened? How did Aldo get on the ground? Did McGregor even punch him? Rewind, play, repeat. I did this approximately five times until I finally saw it in slow motion from several angles. McGregor knocked him the f*ck out-- hit him so damn fast that I didn't even see it! A southpaw sucker punch square in the jaw had Aldo's teeth practically flying out of his face, his eyes dead-pan. The champ was down and out cold only 13 seconds into the first round.

Despite the constant trash talk spit by Dublin’s Conor McGregor, nobody expected to see Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion, Jose Aldo’s ten-year winning streak come to an end. The awaited fight, UFC 194, took place on Saturday, December 12, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The lead up to this fight was huge. Aldo kept it fairly classy while McGregor came at him blow after blow with slaps in the face and insulting remarks, whether he was firing shots at Aldo's home country, Brazil, or at his game, or even just at his face, figuratively and literally. Earlier in the year, McGregor was seen throwing darts in the face and eyes of a photo of Aldo. He reverted back to immature, grade school ways, calling his opponent all of the bad names in the book, sometimes even in Portuguese. Who knew that McGregor's cockiness would end up warranted?

In the backstage of a press conference leading up to the fight, the Irish fighter taunted Aldo through a glass door while holding the champion's belt, claiming it would become his own. We took Aldo's calmness as a modest confidence, but maybe McGregor was right from the start.

“If someone takes something of yours and waves it in your face and says “come and get it” and you look at them and do nothing, that’s the biggest sign of fear.”

But 13 seconds, damn. Did Aldo even have time to be fearful?

Conor McGregor may have taken the title this time, but will a ten-year champ like Jose Aldo really accept a loss like this? I think I smell a rematch.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
