"Everybody isn't your friend. Just because they hang around you and laugh with you doesn't mean they're there for you. Just because they say they have your back, doesn't mean they won't stab you in it. People pretend well. Jealousy sometimes doesn't live far. So know your circle. At the end of the day, real situations expose fake people, so pay attention." -Unknown

This day and age, we're all surrounded by toxic things and people that will bring us down if we're not careful. Believe me, I've experienced it hands-on and I'm sure everyone else has too. The toxicity in the world today comes head-on or it can come disguised as things that we think were interested in or drawn too. You may not even know that the people you're surrounding yourself with or the things you're doing are harmful. All I can say is keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and don't worry about anything else but your own happiness.

I've learned throughout my 19 years of life that there are some people that you need to cut out of your life in order to grow as a person. For me, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. However, I promise it will be worth it in the end. Anything or anyone that threatens your own happiness does not deserve a spot in your life anyway. The sooner you realize that the sooner you start living your life for you. This quote that I found recently couldn't have come at a better time. Just because people act like a friend and laugh with you, doesn't mean they're there for you. Toxic people do pretend well. That's why they're toxic. They leave you wanting more when really they're breaking you slowly without you even realizing it. It takes a lot of time to be able to wake up and make the decision to cut people off who once meant so much to you. However, at the end of the day just like it's stated above... real situations expose fake people and once a fake person is exposed, there's absolutely no reason to keep them around if they in no way, shape, or from benefit your life.

Life is a crazy ride. You have to know your circle. You have to be able to cut out people who do nothing for you but bring you down. At the end of the day, the only people who are absolutely always going to be there is yourself and your family. Life's too short to spend time on people who don't matter. Don't worry, be happy. Keep on keeping on, but be smart about who you let in your life and who you let stay in your life.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
