72 days Until We Get To Wake Up And Smell Game Day Once Again

...and I could not be more excited.

I bet you are wondering what is in 72 days? Well only the best time of the year of course. 72 days until all college students are back in their college towns enjoying Saturday's once again. Yes, I am talking about college football. Whether you are a die hard fan or not, most students enjoy game days especially if you go to a school with a competitive program. For me fall is by far the best season because of college football. I absolutely love college football and what the season brings and here are my top five reasons why.

1. Waking up on game day

Only the true die hards will understand this one. If you know me you know I am not really a morning person, but you will see me waking up at 6 AM on game days to get ready for the day whether the game is at 11 or 7 o'clock at night. There is just nothing better than waking up and knowing that it is game day and you are about to be rooting on your fav team. Only 72 more days until I get to have that awesome feeling once again.

2. Tailgating

Tailgating is for pretty much everyone, the die hard fan or the person who is just there to have some fun. What is better than hanging around some of your closest friends, eating good food, and getting ready for the big game?...nothing. Everyone is back in town and if you go to a college like Kansas State pretty much everyone goes to the football games at least to tailgate. It is just an all around fun time with people you love.

3. The excitement

Whether this excitement is for your team or not college football is just all around exciting. When Kansas State is not playing I spend my time watching all the other top teams. Anything can truly happen in college football. Every weekend is a new struggle and it is so much fun to watch the teams and how they react to different obstacles.

4. The smell

Did I mention that game days just have a different smell to them? This is an odd one, but if you are a true fan you know it to be very true. There is nothing like walking outside on a home game day and being able to smell it in the air. The tailgating and everything that comes with it. I once said to a friend of mine "I can smell it game day is almost here." She did not get it, looked at me weird, and then went and tweeted it but it is okay.

5. The atmosphere

If you are like me the atmosphere of game day really gets to you. Whether it is the atmosphere in the parking lot where everyone is tailgating and getting ready for the game or the atmosphere inside the stadium right before kick off or the excitement in a very intense game.

At Kansas State they always play different videos before the game. Every game you will see the video of Bill Snyder in his 1989 press conference saying, "it is a tremendous challenge here and I think this has the opportunity for the greatest turnaround in college football exists here today and it is not one to be taken lightly," and then the Proud of this House video goes on to play after this.

Now if this does not extremely move you then you are not a true fan. I am not an emotional person, but I will be teary eyed when this video plays on game day.

Only 72 more days until we get to wake up and smell game day once again, and I could not be more excited.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
