10 Reasons Why Mets Fans Are The Best

Growing up I can remember my dad and mom yelling and jumping to joy watching baseball games. They fell in love with the game, and more importantly fell in love with the Mets. It is as if blue and orange run through my blood. I grew to love the Mets on my own and take much pride in being a fan of them. Everyone has their favorite sports teams, but let's be real the Mets are the best, and these are just a few reasons why they are.

1. We have all the superheroes on our side.

We have Captain America (David Wright), The Dark Knight (Matt Harvey), Thor (Noah Syndergaard), and The Hulk (Lucas Duda).

2. Familia

Jeurys Familia was the top closer in the MLB for the year of 2016. He had the most saves in all the league with 51 saves and the year before he had 43. You can say we owe that man our life for how many games he got us out of with the W.

3. Mr. Met and Mrs. Met

It is one thing to have one mascot, but to have two that are such a perfect pair for each other, what can be better than that?

4. We now sell cookie dough at CitiField.

Let's be real, every kid, dad, mom, grandma and grandpa (everyone) loves cookie dough, and now we get to eat it while watching our favorite people play.

5. Resiliency

No matter what challenge the world is facing the Mets always makes it a point to show everyone it is all going to be okay. From something small like constant injuries to something huge like 9/11, the Mets always pull through putting their best foot forward in every chaotic event that gets thrown at them.

6. We have Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and Jimmy Kimmel.

Number 1 comedians, number 1 in our hearts.

7. The 7 Line

The 7 Line Army is a group of die heart Mets fans who travels around the United States to watch the Mets play. Their goal is to hit every stadium before returning to one that they already have been at. Being a part of the 7 Line Army even just for a game is life changing for any Mets fan.

8. Keith Hernandez

Being our first captain ever in Mets franchise history, you can assume that Keith Hernandez is kind of a big deal. He was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 1997 and became the voice of the Mets in 2006. He began broadcasting our games then and we couldn't imagine having anyone else voice them to this day.

9. Always being the underdog.

We might struggle from time from time, but that never stops us. We always put our best foot forward no matter who we are being put up against. No team, no player can ever bring us down.

10. Community

There is nothing better than sitting at a game next to a stranger acting as if they are your best friend. We are one big family that cares about these boys so much that it doesn't matter who you are. As long as you are wearing blue and orange you will always have a friend in me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
