I just don't tell you this enough

A letter to my best friends saying everything I know I should say.

I just don't tell you this enough
Allison Massey

So I'm gonna start off by saying, I'm not a perfect friend. I realize many of you may be shocked by this but I'm not. I can be rude, crass, way too honest, and just down right mean; but I can also be supportive, passionate, and loving. So here's a glimpse to that side of me. Here are some things I really don't tell ya'll enough:

I love you

I do, I really do. I am ungrateful at times because you do so much for me that I just expect it but I do love you more than anything in this world.

Thank you

You guys are everything to me. You help me when I fall down, you pick up all the pieces even when you knew it would happen. So thank you, from the deepest parts of me for everything that you do.

You are amazing

Some of my friends know and believe this about themselves, but for those of you who don't here you go. I can't tell you enough just how amazing you are. You are so much more than what you see in yourself. You're not just someone there to pick up the pieces, you are wonderfully created to be the amazing person that you are. You're incredibly talented in several ways, some of you are incredible singers, some of you have a passion to help others, and some of you are just the best type of friend there is. Please always remember that you are more incredible than what you believe about yourself and that I think you're incredible.

I know I'm annoying

I do realize that I can be a bit... demanding. I just try to push each of you to be the absolute best you can be. If I take the time to be your friend and put the effort in to talk to you I realize that at some point I'm going to annoy you. I'm fully aware of that, but thanks for sticking around anyway.

I see potential in you

As many of you know, I don't really like spending time around people because they always disappoint. So if I am friends with you I believe that you have the potential to do amazing things and I fully intend to push you every step of the way there.

So to my friends, I know I should say all of these things more often, but I don't and I suck for here. Read this and remember it all the time even if I'm not being the greatest friend in that moment.

Love always,

The friend who doesn't deserve you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
