Everything you never knew you needed

It's (almost) that time of year. My family is notorious for needing a Christmas List before you can even jingle your bells, so if yours works the same, you're welcome. These are just a few things, some are on my list, that make life more pretty, less broody. Without further ado, this year's gift guide.

1. S'well Bottle Aspen Trees

These things come in all shapes and sizes, this style happening to be one of the newest. It holds the hot and cold and even manages to make you feel way more nomadic than usual. What a pretty way to stay hydrated!

2. Sugarboo Designs Sweet Darling Throw Pillow

Because one can never have to many pillows... These pillows by Sugarboo have never made me more attracted to something inanimate. They're all so homey and wordy and this one reads, "Sweet Darling, If there is ever a tomorrow when we are not together there is something you must always remember: you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think, but most important of all, even if we are apart, I'll always be with you. xoxo." Aw. Just aw.

3. Native Union Apple Watch Dock

Step 1: get an apple watch. Step 2: get this thing. If you have an Apple Watch, you know the struggle of the charger and gravity. To ensure you don't wake up with precious goods on the ground, this charging dock will sit and look pretty and bring life to your wrist. Win win.

4. Sonix Christmas Tree iPhone Case

Why not put Christmas everywhere you touch? This little phone case is trendy and full of spirit, without too much va va voom. I would probably consider sporting it any time of year... Oops.

5. Urban Outfitters Laura Kicey Moonbeam Tapestry

Probably one of my favorite things on this list, you can delete a whole wall and jump into Alice in Wonderland in real life. This tapestry, plus some natural light, mixed with some drapey wall lights, I believe you got yourself some dream land.

6. Fat and the Moon Dream Weaver Mist

This stuff could be considered off the cliff indie, but I think it's kinda cool. If you read about it, it's packed with cool plants and things to promote dreaming and other fancy thoughts when you hit the pillow. Sweet dreams.

7. Voluspa 'Japonica - Baltic Amber' Three-Wick Candle

If you enjoy walking in a smelly-good room, you may need to feast your nose on this one. This candle emerses one of my fave warm, spicy scents- amber as well as whiffs of love and waves of cool. A must smell.

8. Reiko Kaneko Lip Tease Mug

For coffee, tea, or maybe a pretty water cup, this mug is accessorizing the obvious. With little gold lips where a usual woman's makeup stains, it is slight but dainty and would add to any liquid holder collection.

9. Moon Juice Brain Dust

This potion, whether added to a smoothie or another blend, aside from tasting good actually reduces stress and makes you focus better. After long term use, you begin to notice real benefits and they have a whole line of problem areas, some very different than the brain. Extra, but useful (what else did you expect).

10. Anthroplogie USB Tassel Keychain

I won't go over the whole phone battery debate, but when you need a backup, simply reach for your keys or purse and find this bad boy. You simply insert it like you would a normal charger and it gets the job done, and it looks cute while doing it.

11. Crate & Barrel Birch Mini Logs

To add to the whole earthy vibe, these cute little logs can be put in a jar or spread out as pleased and they'll add a little woodiness to any space. Add a candle and some lights and you're already halfway to comfy.

12. Lush Northern Lights Bath Bomb

To conclude the list and probably any goooood night, you can't dislike a bath bomb (specifically this one). Packed with popping candy and bursting colors, this explosion may be one of Lush's coolest toys yet. I would ask for 1... or 5.

Whether this adds 1 or 12 things to your wishlist, I hope this gives a few ideas where they're needed. Happy (almost) Holidays!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
