It's easy to get lost in the war of the world. When bad things happen, it is easy to forget all of the good things. Think about this for a second: how many times has something so small and so minuscule ruined your entire day? Whether it be reading someone's tweet that made you angry or by seeing something that breaks your heart on TV, it all hurts just the same. But what about the small things that can make your day?

Here are 45 things that make life worth living:

1. Finding a new book that captures your attention from the first page.

2. Cracking open a cold bottle of water on a hot day.

3. Getting in the car just as your favorite song is starting on the radio.

4. Making someone truly laugh.

5. Crawling into a clean and warm bed after a long day.

6. Completing every item on your to-do list and still have a decent amount of day left.

7. Days when the sky is clear and the sun is shining.

8. Falling asleep to the sound of a thunderstorm.

9. Those nights when you're with your friends, you're all laughing, and everything seems like it's going to be okay, even if it's only for a little while.

10. Capturing a picture of the perfect sunset.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
