Growing up I always wanted to have big boobs. My mom does, so I thought that I would too. Well, that reasoning sucks because I am certainly on the smaller side. I always have been. Throughout puberty, I was always jealous of those who actually had cleavage – until I actually bothered to listen to their complaints. When I did listen, I realized that maybe my small boobs weren't all that bad. Even if people still think that I must be younger than I am because I can get away with not wearing a bra. So to all the other flat chested girls reading this, here's a reminder to love your body for what it is because you have a lot of perks that some of your other friends don't.
First off, you can wear a lot of tops others can't. No top is too low-cut; you have no cleavage to show off anyways. You don't have to choose a size based on its ability to fit around your breasts instead of its ability to fit all of your torso. You can wear tops and dresses that aren't meant to be worn with bras. You know the ones I'm talking about. Those backless dresses and shelf bra tops are absolutely adorable, and you get to wear them without having to worry about finding that special bra that will give you the support you need. You don't need the support. A shelf-bra, bralette or no bra will work great, thank you very much.
Sports are a breeze, too. You can wear practically any old sports bra and go for a five-mile run. Not everyone can do that. Some people need bras with about 10 hooks to have enough support to be able to run five miles somewhat comfortably. Can anyone really be all that comfortable while wearing a bra with 10 hooks on it? And not only are those bras not really all that comfortable, but they're not that cute either. You can wear those cute sports bras from your favorite athletic clothing store and actually be able to exercise in them.
Another thing you don't have to worry about is having your breasts objectified. Sure other parts of your body may be objectified, but at least, you don't have to worry about someone talking to your breasts instead of to your face. There's nothing really there for them to talk to. You don't have any cleavage. Unless you are choosing to wear a push-up bra.
Which brings me to my last and most important perk of being flat chested. You have an odd kind of freedom. You can play up your cup size by wearing push-up bras or play them down by wearing bralettes and still look gorgeous no matter which feminine side you pick. You literally have less weight to carry than your friends. You get to feel light. You get to escape from having back pains or pains from exercising with the wrong bra. So sure, maybe you don't fit into conventional forms of beauty and sexiness, and when you flip through catalogs, you don't see a single model with your cup size. But you're beautiful, and you have a lot of freedom that some of your bustier friends are definitely jealous of. That doesn't mean you don't have a right to complain. You do. But, remember to love your body as well.
