What JMU Grad Caps Should Really Look Like

Let's be real.

What JMU Grad Caps Should Really Look Like

When graduation season rolls around, the seniors are preparing much more than their plans after college. A lot of time and effort goes into each generously decorated graduation cap. Often times, the caps are filled with thoughtful and inspirational quotes that usually embody their experience at JMU or the future that awaits them. Although I'm not a senior quite yet, I've watched my friends who are graduating struggle to pick the right saying or decoration for their caps. If you need inspiration for your cap, look no further! Here are realistic depictions of graduation caps for James Madison University:

1. Time to D-Hall dash out of here!

This one is perfect if you often felt the wrath of the D-hall dash! Or if you just feel like having a sillier grad cap, this one is for you.

2. Showker? I hardly know her!

This is for all of the college of business majors out there. The total time spent in Showker may actually exceed the amount of time spent sleeping. Unless you slept in Showker, which is not uncommon or unheard of. Either way, this grad cap is calling out your name!

3. Keep Calm and Carrier On

Carrier Library's motto. If you spent most of your days there or were a part of Club Carrier, then this cap may be the one for you. What better way to honor the place that helped you graduate then by dedicating your grad cap to it?

4. I Dunkin Donut know what to do with myself.

If you preferred Dunkin to Starbucks and blew most of your dining dollars on it, how could you say no to this one? It's also practical if you're still in awe that you won't be returning to such an incredible place that you've called home for the past 4 years. Or if you like donuts..that could work too.

5. What I learned in boating school is...

If you're a fan of Spongebob (if you're not, I'm shocked, but keep reading) then this does not need a further explanation.

6. Poop Hall

If you're familiar with main campus, then you're aware that "Roop Hall" gets a lot of crap (pun absolutely intended) and is often made to look like "Poop Hall." In case this is news to anybody:

So this one is great for the lover of poop jokes, OR if you were a math major and had a lot of classes in Poo-- I mean, Roop Hall.

7. Hire Me!

This would of course be accompanied by your cellphone number and Dukes email. It's a great way to network at an event where so many people will see your hat! You're basically a walking business card.

8. Game of Loans

Unfortunately, I cannot take the credit for making this one up, but it's quite clever. If you're a Game of Thrones fan, why would you not do this?

9. *Netflix Logo*

We all know you spent more time on Netflix than you spent on that project, so why not embrace it and make the logo your grad cap. Probably the most honest grad cap you'd see.

10. And now, sleep.

After 4+ years of non-stop work, it's only appropriate. 'Nuff said.

Of course these are all satirical, unless you choose to actually use one of these. If you do, OMG wow thank you that makes me really happy! Happy graduation season!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
