Today, we live in a world where everyone expects a perfect life. We expect total happiness and bliss, and we question anything that interrupts it. We have been taught to “rub some dirt on it” or to “just get over it”. Every moment we spend upset, we are always told that “it will be okay”. But in that very moment, the moment of tears, or anger, or anxiety, it is not okay. It feels as if it will not okay, and no one wants to accept that.
The problem with the 21st century is the expectation of immediately moving on from a situation. We never are given the time to allow ourselves to heal. If anything, we just let ourselves “rest” and then throw our problems under the rug with the rest of them.
We think it is a bad thing to ask for help.
But why?
It's perfectly okay to admit we are struggling, or that we need help. Its okay to admit that you are not okay. Its okay to cry or to be angry or stressed; its okay to not be okay. We do not talk about our problems enough because we think thats what makes us weak. But in reality, that is how we grow stronger.
Everyone has a bad day, and everyone feels as if nothing can go wrong. Sometimes you need to take a step back and know that you are not alone. Everyone goes through struggles. You need to find the strength in yourself to keep going, to uplift yourself. Know that even your worst day only has 24 hours. Its okay to not be okay, as long as you never surrender to the problems consuming you.
