Here is to my best friends, and every other girl out there that's just trying to survive this game we call " dating".
If I'm being honest this generation shouldn't even call it dating anymore. It's a game and if you get attached or catch feelings and that person finds out..then you're done. You lose. You have no more lives left to keep playing. Especially us young women have the lovely double standard and we are expected to be ok with it. But to make it a little easier here's a list of what we are expected not to be..
We can't be...
-Too smart
-Too dumb
-Too fat
-Too skinny
-Too dark
-Too light
-Too chased
- Too busy
-But not too busy
Along with remember to always be yourself BUT make sure to fit in.
I don't even know how or why our generation is the way it is, but you have to make the best of what you got. Right?
So...to my fellow ladies just keep this in mind. It all depends.
It depends on the day... Did he get what he wanted? and was it enough? It depends on the music playing in the background..trust me it matters. It depends on his mood..is he happy? or did you say something wrong that wasn't enough? It's all black and white. Its either you get their everything or you open your mouth, say the wrong thing and you're done. Cut off. Find another blonde or maybe a brunette next time.
I'm the friend that says too much. I feel too much. Everything about me is "too much". But that's my fatal flaw. If you're not all about me, I don't want you. I want I can't breathe without you, utterly falling head over heels for you.. I want more than what seems to be offered nowadays.I refuse to drop my standards for some boy that calls me pretty. Anyone can be pretty, not everyone can be brilliant. I want substance.
I see people settle for other people that aren't all about them. They settle because the sheets in their bed get too cold at night to be alone anymore, because they are lonely and tired of crying themselves to sleep at night. They just want a hand to hold and they don't care who it is. But what's the point of having someone that isn't all about you..why would you want someone that lies, manipulates, and even go as far as cheating...Do yourself a favor and focus on yourself first. Fall completely in love with yourself as a person and then maybe by that time someone actually special comes along and you'll be ready.
You may be scared of getting hurt, but thats everyone and you'll be single forever if you're too afraid of just taking a chance on someone.
At the end of the day we all get lonely and we all just want someone special to call our own..But being lonely isn't a good enough excuse to settle for someone random.
But what if you focus on yourself, you find your own self love, but nothing changes? You can't rush these things, and you can't look for it. It's going to come run up from behind you and you'll have no idea what's happening until you have what you always wanted.
What if I have too many flaws? What if I'm not good enough? What if I'm not capable of being loved? Well everyone has flaws..find the person that sees those as perfections...and the real question of not being good enough is more of the fact are they good enough for you? Do they have ambitions, goals or dreams...And being unlovable...well I'm still working on that one myself.
The point of this wasn't to hate on guys...there's a lot of good guys out there but they have had there hearts broken...why would they want to ever touch that pain again? I'm not perfect either but someone had to say it..People settle because they convince themselves that's all they deserve..
Its really no one to blame but ourselves.. it's a cycle of people hurting other people and those people who got hurt go hurt other people...for entertainment..to numb the pain..to get even...i don't know.
Here is to the ladies with style and grace. Put some red lipstick on, drink some coffee, and handle it.
Win the game.
