1. Selena Gomez, Lupus

Lupus is an inflammatory autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack its own tissues. Selena recently came out on Instagram to reveal that she had a kidney transplant over the summer because of her condition. In the past, she has had to go through chemotherapy treatment and take time off due to related anxiety.

2. Demi Lovato, Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness that consists of depressive lows for weeks or months to manic highs for weeks or months. Demi Lovato recently released a documentary focusing on overcoming her addictions and her struggle with bulimia that stems from her bipolar disorder.

3. Halsey, Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disorder that causes tissue that normally lines the uterus to grow outside of the uterus. The disorder causes extreme chronic pain. Halsey recently posted a photo of her with fans, captioning it that she was so sick she couldn’t stand so she invited her meet and greet group into her dressing room.

4. Chrissy Teigen, Postpartum Depression

As the name suggests, postpartum depression is depression that occurs after giving birth. Symptoms can be insomnia, loss of appetite, irritability, and difficulty bonding with your baby. Wife of John Legend, opened up this year about her postpartum depression writing “I had everything I needed to be happy. And yet, for much of the last year, I felt unhappy.”

5. Gigi Hadid, Hashimoto’s Disease

Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the thyroid. The disease can cause fatigue, hair loss, depression, and muscle weakness. Gigi opened up about her diagnosis and her struggle with weight control in her modeling career.

6. Nick Jonas, Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition where the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin. Symptoms include increased thirst, fatigue, blurred vision, and weight loss. Nick was diagnosed with diabetes in the middle of a Jonas Brothers tour. He explained, “Something was very wrong. I felt sluggish, drained, like a balloon losing air.”

7. Logic, Derealization Disorder

Derealization is an anxiety where the person has feelings of depersonalization, as if they are outside of their own mind and body. Blaming it on working himself to the ground, he described “I was freaking out, I felt like I needed to throw up, and low and behold, I ended up finding myself in a hospital bed momentarily later.” He wrote a song about his experience titled Anziety.

8. Bella Hadid, Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is caused by a bite from a bacteria carrying tick. It causes a bulls-eye pattern rash, joint pain, and headaches. Bella Hadid suffers from Lyme disease alongside her mother and brother. She spoke of her diagnosis saying, “I couldn’t get out of bed for six days. And my brain would get all foggy, and I couldn’t see.”

9. Lady Gaga, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD is a mental illness caused by a failure to recover from a traumatic event, causing anxiety and flashbacks. Lady Gaga revealed that she was raped when she was 19 and explained that meditation helps her relax when something triggers her.

10. Lil Wayne, Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a disorder in which nerve cell activity in the brain is disturbed which causes unexpected seizures. During a seizure people may experience muscle spasms, fainting, and abnormal behavior. Lil Wayne had to recently cancel shows because he was hospitalized due to epilepsy.
