"I love to see a young girl go out and grab the
world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to
go out and kick ass."
-- Maya Angelou
In today's society, I've witnessed so many young women depending on men. Whether it's financially, emotionally, physically. But, what happens when he decides to leave? You're then left with nothing.
And now you're stuck. You've invested so much time and energy into this person and the relationship that you shared that it almost seems impossible to just abandon your relationship and move forward with your life.
The best thing that I've ever taught myself is to never be the type of person to need anyone. Being by myself is something I thoroughly enjoy because I get to learn more about myself while working on myself. I'm constantly looking for new ways to improve myself, my life and my happiness.
The most important thing to remember is that a man should never be your entire life, but merely an addition TO your life.
"I got this"
When sh*t hits the fan, you should feel confident enough within yourself to know that you can handle the situation. Of course everyone needs some support now and then, but try to be your own support system. Talk yourself through these hard situations and reassure yourself that things will eventually be okay. Life has this weird way of always working itself out. Confiding in someone every once in a while is natural but what happens when it becomes a pattern? Remind yourself that you are strong and can handle anything that's thrown your way.
Support Yourself
Nothing in the world is more satisfying than taking care of myself. Knowing that I work to support myself and my funds make everything that much more rewarding. Having someone bending over backwards for my every need isn't attractive or necessary. We are all more than capable of working and earning everything that we want, and we don't need a man to do this for us. Yes, being spoiled on the occasion is okay, but what happens when the break-up comes? You were so used to him paying for dinner, your hair, your nails, clothes when you went shopping... and now you're stuck. Make your own money, have your own hustle, and let him spoil you every once in a while.
Be Your Own Happiness
It's beyond important to have your own happiness first, and then share it with others. I find that a lot of times people aren't happy with themselves so they outsource and try to find happiness within other people. These may seem okay but again, once the relationship or friendship ends, you're left with exactly what you started with, which is nothing.
Be motivated to be the reason you're so happy and successful. Nothing in life is more rewarding than getting exactly what you had worked for. It's so important to set goals for yourself and to constantly improve your life and work ethic. All of these contributors will leave you with nothing but happiness.
