After Tuesday, many Americans and even non-US citizens seemed either extremely disgruntled or extremely delighted by the outcome. The recent United States presidential election was important for the progression of our future, and many people did not believe Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton could have a successful presidency.
It is important to accept the election because Voters elected Donald Trump. They believed he was the best candidate. Personally, I did not believe Trump was the best candidate, but he is the new President of the United States. Clinton won the popular vote, yet lost the Electoral College; this has only happened four times in the history of the United States. The Electoral College was designed to normalize the election results based on population of state. However, the true reason it was established was because at the foundry of the nation the writers of the Constitution did not trust a complete Democratic system. If you want to go after something go after the Electoral College, not Trump.
Spreading hate will not get us where we, as a country, need to go. Accepting Trump as our next President will in turn allow him to accept his non-supporters. People protesting against his presidency is not going to get us anywhere. In order promote change, we must voice what we want, not complain about who is signing the bills that revise the components of the nation. Fighting, protesting, and rioting to keep Trump out of office will not promote change--it promotes hatred and fear.
Keep in mind that Trump is not the only person that will making important decisions in D.C. over the next four years. We still have more than five hundred other decision-makers in Washington. He may be the head of Washington, but he cannot pass anything without further approval.
The acceptance of this election is crucial to the progression of the United States of America and perhaps even the rest of the world.
