Planning a road trip anytime soon? I have recently driven nine long hours to the deep south. I would like to share with you the ways to survive the boredom and loneliness of driving solo. You always have the obvious activities of listening to music and calling everyone in your contact list to talk for hours. However, have you ever thought about what you can do when music and talking is just not enough? Here are some survival tips to you that helped me get through my trip:
1. Fill up the gas tank!
All the way of course and prepare to fill up about four times ($100 worth)
2. Get yourself a big ass cup of Sweet Tea
I prefer sweet tea but, it can be coke, coffee, milkshake you name it. Anything that will keep you going.
3. Play music.
Of course, you can’t just play your same old songs so I definitely mix it up between throwback, rock and basically anything that will keep you awake. That’s why I create a road trip playlist. This also helps with staying off your phone to change the song (so yeah, don’t text and drive).
Sing and perform your own little concert in your car as you go on your way. Its not like anyone can hear you. You may get a few looks but you probably just made their day so, who cares!
4. Think of the destination.
I held my morale high because I kept thinking about the end result when I arrived there. The excitement definitely helped me push through the nine hours of misery.
Road trips are definitely one of my favorite things in the world but, it is, of course, a lot better with a bunch of friends riding with you however, you can get through it solo too. On the positive side, it’s just you and the road so, you can count on there not being any arguments. Just make sure that you have enough food, energy, AUX chord, and your friends on speed dial.
