College students know it best. The end of the semester is the worst, and it's the hardest time to stay motivated and easily the most common time for crying into your laptop at the library is more socially acceptable than going to class on time. Thus, though I am no motivational speaker, I've picked up five tips over the past few semesters to help in getting through the final stretch.
1. Keep a planner/agenda.
Organization is key to stay motivated! Being organized whether it's written out or on your calendar on your phone, staying on top of due dates and assignments will not only relieve some stress but also keep you motivated to keep working.
2. Go to office hours!
Whether you believe you understand all the information or not, go to office hours! Even if you're feeling comfortable, going to meet with your professor can really help, and in some cases can even bring up your grade those 2 points since you're really showing effort. And what is more motivational than an A in a course?!
3. Take neat/organized notes.
Taking neat and organized notes is CRUCIAL. When your notes are organized, so is your mind. And an organized mind leads to an organized life and a new found motivation to keep going. When you can keep up in the class, you're more likely to go back into your notes and study and study well, aka you're acing that final! Hello, motivation.
4. Create a schedule.
Planning out your time is key in staying motivated. Having a certain amount of time to complete each task works as a guideline to keep you moving. And as well, works as a motivational skill to get all the work off of your schedule or to-do list to get the well-deserved reward of free time and a social life!
5. Create a reward system.
Rewarding yourself is the best way to stay motivated. Knowing after you finish an assignment or paper means you get to nap or go get the food you've been craving all week really helps motivate you to get through the assignment. And more often than not, helps you work through that lengthy paper faster than you would've finished otherwise. Reward yourself, you deserve it after getting through the end of the semester!
