I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that as fun as college can be, it is extremely stressful. Trying to balance school work, a job, clubs, sports, and any other obligations that we have to take of can be mentally draining. It is super helpful to have a few stress relieving tactics in mind to get us through the rest of the semester.
1. Take a bubble bath
This is my personal go-to. Nothing is more relaxing than soaking up in a bunch of bubbles with a few candles. To make it even more relaxing, try using a face mask or add bath salts.
2. Go for a run
I know this is the last thing that any of us want to do, as if walking up the stairs isn't already hard enough. However, running or any sort of exercise can actually relieve stress. It might feel awful while you're doing it, but you will sure feel refreshed afterwards.
4. Watch a comedy movie or sitcom
Sometimes you just have to sit back and let loose. Laughing lowers your body'a stress hormone and increases endorphins, which improve your mood. Grab the remote and turn on that show you know will have you cracking up in minutes.
5. Listen to music
Take a moment to plug in your head phones and play your favorite tunes. Listening to music can soothe your mind and relax your body. You can do this pretty much anywhere. So if the stress starts to hit while you're at the grocery store, you know what to do.
6. Aromatherapy
Certain Aromas or scents are able to lower stress levels. The best oils to relieve stress are: lavender, Rose, Frankincense, Bergamot, and Chamomile. These scents will help relax, soothe, and calm you.
7. Yoga and meditation
Deep breathing, posing, and meditating are effective ways to deal with stress. Yoga and meditation can improve your mind-body connection and your peace of mind. Pull out your yoga mat and prepare to feel completely relaxed afterwards.
8. Chew gum
Most of us are already relieving stress without even knowing it. Something as simple as chewing gum can actually lower your stress levels, increase alertness, and decrease your anxiety levels. I know what I'll be grabbing next time I'm at the store!
We all have those days where just thinking about all of your responsibilities makes you want to burst out crying. Dealing with stress can be mentally and physically tiring. Try one of these tips the next time you feel completely stressed out. It won't make all of problems disappear, but you will feel refreshed and ready to face them head on.
