16 Ways To Look Your Best During Your Internship
Bright On the Day

Internships are essential to your career and could singlehandedly change your life. You may go through long hours, get no sleep, or even have a tough boss, but at the end of the day, you are making a big step to into your lifelong career.

In order to be successful, you must work hard. You must put in 100%. And you must look your best. The way you dress reflects who you are, who you want to be, and what you stand for. All in all, "The way you look reflects your self image, attitude, confidence and state of mind. A strong, purposeful presence is the hallmark of an effective image," -Natalie Jobbity.

Looking your best as well as staying in style is sometimes hard to achieve in the professional world, but it is possible.

Here are 16 necessities to look professional, classy and stylish during your internship.

1. A blazer. CLASSIC.

2. Black heels. Every girl's closet MUST have a pair.

3. Along with black heels, you need to have a pair of nude heels. Adaptable to any color outfit (especially on those days where those black heels aren't acceptable for your navy outfit).

3. Many, many flats. Your feet will thank you later.

4. Jewelry, but most importantly a statement necklace. The best way to make your outfit from a 5 to a 10.

5. A pleated skirt. Trendy and cute.

6. A little black dress. "When a little black dress is right, there is nothing else to wear in its place" -Coco Chanel.

7. A simple white button down. Everyone needs some simplicity in an outfit. You will find these under those statement necklaces (#4).

8. A pencil skirt. A business-casual fashion staple.

9. A tote. Invest in a good quality, as well as chic, bag that will be used long-term.

10. A watch. Practical and an easy way to accessorize in a fashionable way.

11. A basic cardigan. They're multipurpose for all seasons.

12. Neutral colored slacks - capris, skinny, flare, etc. Very common in business fashion. They are professional, chic and comfortable

13. A pop of color. The business world is known as black and white as well as on overall serious profession. Adding color can add liveliness and positivity to the environment.

14. A trench coat. A timeless classic for those chilled commutes to work.

15. Patterns. A sophisticated way to make your outfit outside of the ordinary.

16. And don't forget, you're never fully dressed without a smile.

Put together many of these necessities into one outfit and you will be the best-dressed in the office.

At the end of the day, one must listen to Coco Chanel; "A girl should be two things: Fabulous and Classy," AT ALL TIMES.

Dress for success.

XO,

Alyssa Ellyn

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
