College 101: Adulting The Right Way.

Hey Mom, Am I doing this right?

College 101: Adulting The Right Way.

As children -- myself in particular, I most looked forward to the idea of growing up. I always imagined what life would be like as an adult. What kind of career would I have? How would I dress? Would my voice change? Would I change?

Up until college, I focused a lot on the idea of growing up until I approached adulting head on. I got my first job my freshman year in college and I realized just how hard the balance of a full time student and full time job was. Life certainly hit me hard and honestly it hasn't gotten easier. Since then , I have very well grown in age as well as spiritually, mentally and physically. With that, I can truly say that I have certainly lived, learned and continue to learn more each day. I work to openly accept criticism while still shying away from help. I try to do everything on my own and I realize that sometimes it is okay to accept help.

Adulting is hard and deep down , we're all just children trying to make our ways into the big world. Here's just a few things I;ve learned so far...

The World Is Scary

Giphy

As we prepare to graduate, we may have this notion that we will take the world by storm. Of course, confidence will ALWAYS be KEY. Still yet, the world is indeed a scary place and no matter how prepared we think we may be, a little guidance will always deem helpful.

Life Happens Fast

Don't think, just do!

Giphy

There are those moments when it seems as though one hour may move just a tad bit slower than the last and with that moments can easily pass up by. Either you can grasp life and move with it or easily get swept away. Take time to evaluate big decisions and on some occasions move with spontaneity. Placing thought into our every move will hinder our ability to enjoy the life that presents itself.

Each One , Teach One.

Giphy

No matter how old we get, we'll all still need a little helping hand. We're never too old for guidance, whether that come from a parent, sibling, friend or mentor. In order to truly live -- we must learn along the way.

Just Breathe

Giphy

Life can be stressful but we all have to remember to just BREATHE. Take a moment, recollect, regather and regroup. An old friend once said .. "Aint nothing to it but to do it"

Fake It Until You Make It

Giphy

I mean lets be honest here.. nobody has this thing we call life all figured out. If they say they do -- 9/10, they're lying. We're all figuring out this world together so don't be yourself up about the "What If's" and focus on the now!

Work Hard, Play Harder

Giphy

You can't just expect things to be handed to you. It is truly a dog eat dog world.. so you certainly have to work for what you want. If you find something interesting, take the initiative to not only do but learn more! Delve into your work -- hard work rarely goes unnoticed. Remember that with balance -- all work and no play leads to a very boring life. So , in moments of leisure really embrace those times. Whether it be a weekend getaway, extended vacation or simple day off. Enjoy those moments to the fullest because sometimes a break is well deserved.

"Ain't Nothing To It, But To Do It"

Giphy

Don't be afraid to step out on faith. Life is tough, but you are resilient. Time waits for no one -- so if you want it ... Go and get it. The only thing worse than failing is never having tried. You got this ! We got this ! Let's Do It!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
