It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is doing pretty well in life. She’s released five albums in the past 9 years, has toured all over the world, owns two cats named Olivia and Meredith (after Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey, of course), and is currently dating Calvin Harris…need I say more?
The artist has been touring around the globe since May 2015 on her 1989 Tour and most recently had five sold out shows this past week at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This venue holds a capacity of 18,118 people, so performing to roughly 90,000+ people is no small feat.
Not only does Swift provide fans with the main show, but includes surprise guests to mix things up and keep audiences guessing.
Her first Staples show, Aug. 21st, included bringing Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers out to share the stage with her, and then singing a duet with Ryan Tedder, the lead singer from One Republic.
The surprises didn't stop there, with Staples night two, on Aug. 22nd, bringing Mary J Blige onto the stage where the two sang a duet of Blige's hit "Doubt".
Swift also brought out Uzo Aduba, known for her role as Crazy Eyes on "Orange Is the New Black," to sing along to "White Horse", a song from the artist's second album, "Fearless".
The list for night two didn't end there, but continued with actors Matt LeBlanc and Chris Rock taking the stage, along with model Sean O'Pry who starred as the love interest in Swift's music video for "Blank Space".
By the time night three, falling on Aug. 24th, rolled around, fans knew to expect the unexpected. During the artist's performance of "Style", Ellen Degeneres joined the stage in her own sparkly attire to dance and sing along.
Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks entered the stage to sing a classic, "Goodbye Earl".
Swift didn't end the surprises there, but hyped up her audience by introducing her next guest as: "She defined the music of her decade. She inspired a generation of confessional female singer-songwriters who all of a sudden felt like you could actually say these raw feelings that you had; you could actually sing about your real life, you could put detail to it, you could get really, really mad if you wanted to. And I think it’s fair to say that so many of the female singer-songwriters of my generation, including myself, would not write the way that we do without her and her music." Followed by bringing out Alanis Morissette to sing "You Oughta Know".
Night four, on Aug. 25th, didn't fall short of expectations as Taylor welcomed John Legend to sing his hit "All of Me," in which Swift later captioned her Instagram photo with "ALL OF ME. JOHN LEGEND. ALL THE FEELS."
Switching it up from a nice ballad to a more intense rock scene, Beck joined the stage to sing his latest hit "Dreams" while Annie Clark of St. Vincent had a killer guitar solo to top it off.
Aug. 26th, the fifth and final night of Swift's Staples streak, she went out with a bang. Bringing out the infamous Justin Timberlake to sing his well-known "Mirrors", crowds went wild.
Swift also brought out best friend and chart-topper Selena Gomez to sing, for the first time, her single "Good For You," captioning her Instagram photo with "Sisterhood."
The night wasn't finished until Lisa Kudrow joined the stage to relive her days as Phoebe Buffay from the show "Friends" in a performance of "Smelly Cat".
Moral of the story being, you never know what to expect when attending a Taylor Swift concert and if you try to guess, you'll probably end up being surprised anyway. Between actors, models, and musicians, Taylor seems to have the power of Hollywood in the palm of her hand, and she's using it to put on a show that's unforgettable.
