What type of person are you? Do you complain that the glass is half-empty or do you rejoice the fact that the glass is half-full? Everything is about perspective. Are you an optimist, or are you a pessimist? The answer to that question shapes who you are and how you will live your life. There is already plenty of hate and sorrow in this world, so why add to it? Everything starts with you. You have the power to change how you view life, for it is all mental. If you want to do something, then do it. Quit saying “I could be more optimistic,” and start saying, “I will be and I am more optimistic.”
Your attitude controls you like the strings of a puppet controls its every motion. If you live a miserable life, it's no one’s fault but your own. On the contrary, if you live a beautiful life, no one can take the credit except you. If you live every day only focusing on the negative and not the positive, you're going to live a negative life. Sure, there are things that happen to us that no other emotion but sorrow can express. But we still have the choice to make the best out of everything. Power goes out? Don't complain that you can’t watch TV. Instead, sit down with the family and crack open that board game that has been collecting dust on the top shelf of the closet for so many years. Automatically, you have turned a negative situation into a positive situation. When a loved one passes away, don't focus in on the sorrow and confusion. Instead, focus on what made that person who they are. Relive those memories you shared with them over and over again in your head. I promise that you will feel better.
Life sucks sometimes and it gets even harder as we progress through our lives. That's no excuse to live pessimistically, though. Our one life is a gift, not a right. So make the best of it. Since you only have one life, why live it always seeing the glass as half-empty? One day, it will be too late to change your view to a more optimistic kind. One day, it will be too late to see the glass as half-full. The day to change the way you view life is this very day, at this very hour, in this precise minute.
Be the change in your life that you have so eagerly been searching high and low for. Once you clear the fog away from your eyes and start seeing that the glass is half-full and not half-empty, you will realize how much happier you as a person have become. Even if you don’t believe me, you should owe it to yourself to try it out for one moment. Regardless of if you see the glass as half-empty or half-full, you must always remember that the glass is always refillable.
