These items that you can find around your house can be helpful if you own a dog. Some of them I didn't even realize could be helpful to dogs! Remember that you make sure to research how much to give your dog before doing so!
1. Benadryl
Benadryl is safe for dogs to take if they are having allergic reactions. I know a few people who have used it to help their dogs get over an allergic reaction. All of them have praised how well Benadryl has worked.
2. Pepto Bismol
Yes, you can actually give a dog Pepto Bismol. I gave it to Harley just a few weeks ago when he was having diarrhea troubles. It may leave a black stool, but no worries, as long as you don't give your dog too much, he'll be fine. It took Harley a while to take all of the Pepto we gave him, but we mixed in a broken up treat and some bacon bits.
3. Dramamine
It works on humans to help with motion sickness, and it can help with dogs as well. Many dogs will get motion sickness in cars, boats, etc. A bit of dramamine can help just like it helps for people.
4. Hydrogen Peroxide 3%
We all have those moments where the dog eats something he isn't supposed to and it's a panic mode of "is it going to hurt him?" A bit of hydrogen peroxide will induce vomiting which will get whatever is in their stomach out. Something that can be toxic, such as a great amount of chocolate, is good to get out of their stomach as soon as possible.
5. Cayenne pepper
Dogs love to dig, but sometimes they dig in bad places, gardens, the lawn, etc. Putting some cayenne pepper on the spot will make it "hot" and the dog will not want to be around it because the cayenne pepper is too strong for their senses. One spot Harley has been after, we poured cayenne pepper on it, he occasionally steps on it, but he leaves the spot alone.
There are plenty of other things that can be used as well, old socks can make great toys! Just make sure to do your research!
