We all had that teacher in high school, the one who would say "just wait till you get to college." They would say how difficult it was going to be. They said how your professors would not care about you, let alone know your name. The nights you pulled all-nighters to finish an assignment or study for that big exam, you thought how could anyone do this all the time? Well, the teachers in high school were not right most of the time, but they got a few things right.
1. You really should not pull all-nighters a few days in a row. You thought waking up at 7:45 am to get to school by 8 was bad in high school. When you wake up at 5 am for your 7 am lecture that runs three hours, you will feel the pain.
2. "Read a chapter for tomorrow class" would invoke an "ugh" from the entire class. Now you are expected to read an entire novel in two days.
3. When two of your teachers said you had an exam the next day, and you would attempt to convince them to move one of them. In college, you will have 4 papers, a presentation, and an exam all on the same day.
4. Coffee will be your best friend in college. Caffeine helps to fuel the lifeless souls that are college students.
5. You will take classes that interest you in college. Although, many universities have "core" classes, the majority of the classes you take you will pick.
6. Friends in high school may not be permanent, so enjoy the time you have with them while you can.
7. High school activities are a lot different than college activities. Take advantage of what your high school and town has to offer.
8. Try to enjoy high school, it may be difficult or annoying. But, it is this rare time in your life where you have all these opportunities with very little obligations.
