As a young girl in her twenties, I have kissed my number of frogs when it comes to boys. I always seem to pick the "wrong one." Running into this problem felt like the Man upstairs was slamming a door in my face over and over again. Every single one of these guys taught me what the wrong kind of love felt like, but how do I know what forever love feels like?
Recently, I have met a guy who I am sure is "the one.” He came into my life almost a year ago, when my life felt like the messiest it had ever been and he showed me how to find the light within the storm. He's patient.
A man should have patience with his girl. We are so indecisive of what to wear, what to eat, or what to do, that to them it can seem impossible to reason with us. I promise you, that the man meant for you will take his time to get to know you. He'll explore the corners of your soul that you keep locked away.
The right man will sit and wait for you to get ready and tell you that you look beautiful in each and every one of those outfits you try on but STILL don't like. He'll run through options for places to eat, in hopes you'll pick one. If I am craving McDonald's fries and a quesadilla from Taco Bell, he'll drive me to both places just to please me. Don't settle for a man who becomes impatient with your quirks, wants or needs.
He's concerned.
A man who is intuitive to his significant other's mind is a special quality to have. Your match made in heaven will concern himself with how your day was, even if he wasn't so good. He'll learn what makes you the happiest, and the things that drive you absolutely crazy. Not only will he concern himself with these things, but he will also tend to them.
He's supportive.
A man who supports the activities his woman is involved in should be cherished. I ride horses and love to read and my boyfriend will come out to my lessons with me and watch, just because he knows that's what makes me happy. He'll also read with me, which to me is a quality I have never seen a guy have before.
Guys who put their activities above yours and belittle the things you love should never be made permanent in your life. The things that make you happy in this world are unique and specific to you, and a man worth waiting for will support those wholeheartedly.
He's gentle.
The right guy for you will hold your heart gently and safely in his hands. When it comes to our fears and deepest regrets, many times we don't like to share and when we do, we feel like we have given a piece of ourselves away to that person. When the right guy for you comes, he'll take these fears and worries and will ease them.
He's there
When your man comes along for you, he should be all there. What I mean by that is that his attention and time should be dedicated to you. He shouldn't be distracted by his phone or other nuisances, but focus his time and energy on making sure you are happy and content at that moment. Make sure when you find a man like this, and when you do don't let him go.
After saying all of this, there is one thing to remember: a relationship takes two people to make it work. If the man for you has the characteristics above, make sure to do the same for him. The right guy is out there waiting and I promise you he might be lost now (men and their directions am I right) but he will come.
It may not be on a white horse, he might not be in shiny armor, he might not even be a prince.
