With so many bad things happening in the world today, people are starting to ask the question “Where’s God?” The world is bad, but God’s graciousness is constant. But how could I prove that? I decided a good way to prove that God was good in times of struggle is to go to the one place I know could be the most stressful, a college library during finals.
College finals. Hands down one of the worst parts of a college student’s career. Little sleep, lots of coffee, and several mental breakdowns, and the library isn’t exactly a place of comfort. I went around and asked people as they were studying for their finals, “Where did you see God today?” and the answers they gave me made me cry, giggle, smile, and see God through them.
“When I was walking to class this morning, I stopped to look at how beautiful our campus was. The little things like the sunrise reflecting on our ponds reminded me that through it all God is there.”
“I heard on the radio this morning that a five month old baby was just cured of cancer. Such things can only be done with the help of someone more powerful than ourselves.”
“Someone paid for my lunch.”
“My family, because I was blessed with an awesome one.”
“When I have to do my homework. As much as it sucks, it means I have a laptop to do it on and able to go to school.”
“Talking to my parents, and I guess just realizing I have a stable family that cares about me.”
“When I woke up this morning and saw it wasn’t gloomy, but sunny outside.”
“When our professor didn’t teach us more material in class, but we got a review day.”
“When my friend brought me lunch after I’d been studying all day.”
“I woke up on time for my test.”
“I parked in 30 minute parking, for over thirty minutes, and I didn’t get a parking ticket.”
I see God’s constant graciousness in several parts of my life, but the one I see it the most is in sunsets.
