If you are anything like me, you grew up with the same group of best friends pretty much your entire life. Although there have been some changes here and there, the group has remained pretty stable as we grew older. Don't get me wrong, we had people in and out of the group, but they never stayed very long because well, they just were not the originals. Some people say that they are so lucky to have a best friend. I am even luckier because I have a group of several best friends, all who are just as meaningful to me as the other.
The best thing about having a large best friend group is that each of us have our own specific identity and personality. To be honest I am not quite sure how we all ended up being best friends, because we are a very random group of people. Here is a little breakdown of how the group works.
1. The mom: the one friend who is always taking care, watching over, and feeding the other friends. Without her, we would all be lost, sad and hungry.
2. The goof: this friend is always laughing and making the rest of the group laugh as well. There is always ridiculous things happening to this person, but it always manages to put a smile one everyone's face.
3. The drama queen: if you have one of these in your friend group, you know exactly how they are. Everything is a big deal, everyone makes them mad, and there is always a lot of yelling and enthusiasm in every conversation. Although this may sound annoying, we put up with the drama just because we love her that much. She keeps up entertained.
4. The crazy party-girl: this friend is always down to have a good time and is the first one to find plans for the weekend. She is the first one the group invites when we want to have the best night of our lives.
5. The wildcard: This friend is not always around as much as the rest of us. She has a million things going on and is very driven. But when she is around, the group feels complete again.
6. The sweet one: This friend is always there for the rest of the group. She has the kindest heart and always wants to make sure the rest of her friends are ok. Putting other people first is her strong suit and she is the definition of a good friend and represents the older sister of the group.
7. The "trendy" one: This friend tries to keep up with style as much as she can. She is always around to help with an outfit crisis or advice. But she is also there for moral support of her other friends. The others in the group go to this friend for advice on boys, clothes, and just life in general.
Some other great aspects about having a big group are that I feel like I am a part of all of their families. I can (and always do) walk in unannounced, raid their food and sleep in their beds, and feel at home even if my friends aren't there. I have so many people to hangout and do things with. So even if some of us have work or plans, there is always, at least, one person who is not busy.
My best friends know me better than anyone and their families are my family. Being apart from them is the worst feeling, but there is no doubt that our reunions make for some of the best memories.
