5 Ways To Avoid Summer Boredom

We all have that summer bucket list we filled out in hopes of actually completing it. Sometimes those plans don't always work out, but it's important to stay productive. You only have so many days of summer and you need to make sure you make use of the warm weather and free time.

1. Try something you've been putting off

Now is the time to try something new and different, perhaps something you have been putting off because of your busy schedule before. The summer is the perfect opportunity to put your energy into something like a blog, cooking, or yoga. You name it and then do it!

2. Get outside

I don't have to tell you how great summer weather is, but I can offer some ideas of ways to get outside and enjoy the glorious season. Hiking and biking can be great ways to sneak exercise your daily routine, whether it's on a mountain or around your local park. Also, go swim––it's a great form of exercise that's also fun for everyone! No one could complain about a stop at the beach.

3. Make some money

Who doesn't love the idea of some extra cash in their pocket? Taking up a summer job doesn't have to be as dreadful as you think. Especially if you find a job that has good hours (part-time hours) and is fun, too! If you like the outdoors, look into becoming a camp counselor or taking up a lifeguard job at your local pool. If you enjoy air conditioning and social interactions, there are plenty of restaurants, ice cream shops, and clothing stores that would love the extra help.

4. Volunteer

Some people in the world don't get the opportunity to enjoy summer with all the benefits many of us have. It's important to recognize that and help out as much as you can. You can donate clothes or food or help out at a soup kitchen. Helping keep your community clean is also a great way to volunteer. You can have a town clean-up day or start up a community garden. Get creative

5. Be spontaneous!

Forget planning and just go out and do something fun! Sometimes too much planning can get in the way, so decide on a place to go, pack some snacks, and head out! Whatever happens, it will make for a good story later on.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
