5 Ways to Have Fun Without Involving Alcohol

Everyone knows how much alcoholism has been glorified to death, especially in recent years, but the glorification can lead to how everyone sees alcohol in the long run. Many people will think that it is impossible to have fun without having to involve alcohol in any way, but in reality, that is far from the truth. There are so many ways lots of people, even adults, can have fun without having to drink a single glass of an alcoholic drink. These are only five of those ways, but there are lots of other ways people can have fun without having to drink alcohol.

1. See a Movie

What can be more classic and relaxing than seeing a movie in theatres? You can go alone or with a few friends; either way it is still a lot of fun. Plus, getting the chance to see a new movie when it is still in theatres can be a treat within itself (as long as someone did not spoil it for you in the first place).

2. Go to a Concert or Festival

Concerts and festivals can be mad expensive, but they are still a great way to have fun when you are able to get tickets. Seeing some of your favorite artists performing together live can be one of the most exhilarating feelings anyone can ever have during their young lives. Since most festivals are in the summer, and summer is when everyone has the most free time, it can be a great combo.

3. Have Dinner With Some Old Friends

What can be a better social gathering than going out to eat with a couple of old friends? Not only you can have some great food (maybe even try some new foods at a place you have never been to before), but you can catch up with old friends you have not seen in a long time.

4. Find a Hobby or Take a Class

If something makes you happy, you are having fun already. A hobby can be very helpful for self care and you can have fun doing it too. And if you want to learn how to do something, you can take an affordable class so you can learn how to do it and perfect your skills in that particular hobby.

5. Go to a Coffee or Dessert Shop

Who does not love to go to coffee shops or dessert shops? Everybody loves sweets or coffee, so that alone makes it fun within itself. There are many coffee and dessert shops that are local and can feel pretty homey, so finding a new dessert or coffee shop can be one of the best ways you can have some fun.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
