Handling The Rough Days

We all have 'em.

Handling The Rough Days

So you had a bad day...

We all know life is one big roller coaster, which means that we have great days where we feel invincible, good days that are just typical for us, and then bad days where we wanna crawl into a hole and never come back out. Whether it starts with a bad hair day, a new pimple, or not getting your coffee order, we've all had those moments when we just think to ourselves "Oh boy, today's gonna be a tough one," but we push on anyways. No matter how bad of a gut feeling you have, and as much as you want to just stay in bed to avoid any other things that will worsen you day, you carry on with your chin held high.

Here are some good things to do when one of these days hits, and hits hard.

1. Drown your feelings in food

Forget about that stupid diet you've been doing...if you're having a terrible day, eat whatever the heck you want.

And just as a rule of thumb, you haven't done it right unless you feel like this afterwards.

2. Jam out to some music

You can either choose to wallow in self pity and play your "depressing songs" playlist or you can play your happy playlist, with all those songs that just make you smile and put you in a good mood. I suggest the latter. A bonus is if you're around one of your best friends and you can belt out some good ole sing along songs or you can dance out your emotions.

3. Lay in the sun

If it's a nice day, go outside and just lay in the sun and soak up some rays. That warmth will make you feel better in no time.

4. Write it down

Yeah it's a little cheesy, but it's also often overlooked. I am a big supporter of writing things down, and have been for a really long time. Write your frustrations down and whatever happened during your bad day, and you'll feel relieved. It's very therapeutic.

5. Go for a run or hit the gym

Run to release those endorphins, and you'll feel a lot better. Or, just go to the gym and work out until you feel like those bad emotions are gone or have at least subsided.

6. Take a long shower

Showers are always soothing, but they're even better if you've been having a bad day. Take some quiet time to reflect and think things through or sing and be as weird as you want.

7. Retail therapy

This one never fails. You had a tough day, so go to your favorite store and buy that shirt you've been eyeing for a while because you deserve it after what you've endured today. Don't go too crazy, but go wild enough to make yourself feel a lil bit better.

8. Snuggle with your pet

Your pets always make you feel better, no questions asked. Grab your dog, cat, bunny, or whatever it may be, and let them give you some lovin!

9. Mindlessly watch TV

A really justifiable excuse to binge watch whatever you want. And challenge yourself to watch as zombie-like as you can.

10. Just cry

Yeah, this one may be seen as more pathetic, but there are just some times/days where it feels like all your emotions are building up and the best thing to do about it is cry and let it all out.

11. Talk it out with a friend

This is foolproof. Make them sit and listen to you, or if you're not together, text them and vent. Either way, just let them know what's went on so they can help you feel better.

Think of these the next time you have a bad day, but never let those days keep you down. Everyone copes differently, but remember, if you do have a bad day you're bound to have a great one soon after!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
