An Open Letter To My Greek Family

An Open Letter To My Greek Family
Cristina Bedolla

To my fellow sisters,

First of all, I love you guys and I mean that more than you know. I knew when joining a sorority I would make friends, and have people to hangout with, but I did not realize the true bonds that I would make over such a short time. People do not realize that joining a sorority is more than just new friends, formals, and parties, it means that you are promising to love your fellow sisters for their flaws (which you begin to realize those are some of your favorite things about them), lift your sisters up when they are at their lowest, and give 100 percent to the women around you, as they do the same for you. I am so grateful to part of such a wonderful group of women!

To my Big,

You were one of the first already initiated sisters that I met. We had our first owl pawl date, and we ended up talking for hours. After getting to know each other even more, I have fallen in love with every single piece of you. You are the true essence of what a "sister," is supposed to be. You are always checking up on me, and you have no idea how much I appreciate it. When I was having a bad day last week, you saw me , ran up and gave me a big hug, turning my day right around. You also except me for who I am, which is one of the most important things you could ask for in a Big. You have gone out of your way to get to know me, what I love, what I hate, and always extend an invite to everything that you do. Reminding me that while yes, you are somewhat obligated to be around me, but that you have taken the "Big," role and personalized it so that we truly form a bond that will last a lifetime. I know that I can talk to you about literally everything (our group chats are craaaay) and I wouldn't change a single thing. I have never understood wanting such great things for someone you have only known for a short time, but I literally wish you nothing but great things in life. You inspire me every day! You are so smart, gorgeous, and you can drop it like no other. Going through Initiation has been such an amazing experience and I would not want anyone else by my side.

To my GBig,

My Gbig has been in Spain, and we sadly have not been able to meet, but I feel like I know her already. I have never known a woman who has never met me, have so much love from the other side of the world. She has gone out of her way to make sure that everything is going well, endless complimenting which make my day, and is always checking up on how things are going and I could not ask for more. You are beautiful, free-spirited, and from our conversations, I know that we are going to get along great. I am so proud to say I'm you're Glittle and cannot wait until we get to finally meet.

To my twin,

You also been such a strong presence throughout this wonderful journey, it's been great knowing that I will always have someone stuck with me forever (LOL). I am an only child and this is just what I needed. I finally have gotten the chance to "grow" up with someone, while also becoming great friends. You are strong, beautiful, and always have a smile on your face and I want nothing but amazing things for you.

Chi Omega has taught me that you can truly be around a large group of women, and every single one of them wants the best for you. I aspire to be as great as every single one of you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
