To my dorm room,
It seems like just yesterday, I was laying in my childhood bedroom dreaming of you. Wishing for the time to pass so we could finally meet, I was more than excited to be wrapped up in your four walls. The eight months we have shared have been some of the best of my life. You have been there when I have laughed, cried, and fell in love. Thank you for embracing me with extended arms after a long night out, accompanying me when I decide that Netflix is calling my name to watch "just one more episode." Thank you for allowing me to meet one of my best friends, sharing a small room with someone else sounds like an awful experience, but doing it with someone that betters your day makes it so much fun.
To my roommate,
How has freshman year come and gone so quickly? Thank you for messaging me on Facebook to be roommates, I love looking back on that now to see how cool we were trying to be to impress each other. Whether it is watching movies, laughing at clips from The Office, or complaining about life, I am so glad you have been my first roommate (and the bar has been set extremely high). We probably should have apologized to the girls who live on our hall for the amount of times we have laughed uncontrollably at 2 a.m and for having our TV on "surround sound mode" (which really just meant having it turned up as loud as it will go) but oh well! Pushing our beds together to make "Mega Bed" started a dorm-wide trend but I would like to take this time to set the record straight- we came up with "Mega Bed." I am so sad that our never ending sleepover really does have to end, I wish I had known in the beginning that it would have gone this fast. We say we are never moving out but I am assuming campus security will forcibly remove us at some point.
To the girls who live here after us,
This room has been filled with laughter, my biggest hope is that you two get along as well as we did. Take in every second you can because freshman year goes by so quickly. I still can`t get over the fact that I will be moving out in a few short days and you two will be filling our spots. Don`t be surprised when we come knocking on your door to meet you, but it will probably be to see the room more than anything. (And no, it is not normal for previous tenants to visit but we just love this room so much.) Dorm life may not be appealing to you but try to make the best of it because it really is a once in a lifetime experience. I can`t say that having to walk down the hall to brush your teeth or in your towel to take a shower is super fun but it's just a part of being a freshman and over time it becomes normal, I promise. This may be the only time in your life where your close friends are just a few doors down from you or a short walk away. But most importantly, remember that losing your key and fob actually is the end of the world and is the worst 150 dollars you will ever spend if you lose them... So keep up with them! ;)
