Finals are coming.
Perhaps the most nerve-wracking thing you could hear as a student. Get ready for the countless hours of studying and some serious sleep deprivation. Don't worry, those Redbulls will keep you going long enough for you to ace that exam.
But here's a simple reminder that you've got this.
Whether you're a graduating senior or an incoming freshmen in college or in high school, you're about to throw yourself into hours of stressful review. I am here to remind you of some important things to keep in mind for your sake.
Remember to eat.
Often, it feels like there isn't enough hours in the day and we prioritize school work over basic human health. Food is energy and, as much as we hate to admit this, we can't live by swallowing down a few Redbulls to get by. We can't survive off of instant ramen, either. I understand if you're broke, but make conscious decisions. Just because it is convenient doesn't mean it's the best choice.
Sleep is key.
I love it, you love it - we all love sleep. However, we much rather stay up late to jam pack tons of information in our minds instead of refueling our bodies. Even I am guilty of it and it is something I am continuing to incorporate into my everyday routine.
Take a breath.
Life can be a little chaotic sometimes and it's hard for us to remember to breathe. Just take a step back, release your mind and just exist. Sit down on a bench outside, observe your surroundings and focus on being present. Get back in touch with the world, even if it's just for a few minutes, but it'll do you wonders.
Interact.
It's a natural human need. For the most part, we rely on socializing, whether it be with family, friends and even strangers. Make some time to talk to others, not about school work but just life, in general. We all lead separate lives and it'll give you a chance to get to know someone a little bit better. I know that sharing a few laughs and engaging in a light conversation with my friends is the best way for me to relax.
Blow off some steam.
Any form of exercise proves to be stress relieving and even meditative. Just hit the treadmill, take a jog or even lift some weights. Whatever it is, it'll do the job. All your focus is redirected to the physical activity you are doing.
That is all I have for you today, but I hope you've taken away something from this article. I am choosing to make these healthier decisions because not even I have mastered them all. I wish you luck on your academic endeavors and hope that you try your very best to your full capability to get through this.
