First off everyone, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Although, I am more of a team Kendall and Khloe kind of girl, if I had to pick any character! Recently, the Internet has exploded all because of a nude selfie Kim Kardashian posted, with the caption “When you’re like I have nothing to wear LOL”

For some reason, I just didn’t find that funny. This is coming from a girl who constantly is making millions and millions of dollars. We all know you have plenty of stuff to wear, Kim. However, there are other people who don't have very many clothes to wear, or struggle greatly; but that’s beside the point.

Many people decided to comment about this and fire back at Kim on social media. Some of these people included Piers Morgan, Bette Midler, and Chloe Grace Moretz who said “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.” Well said Ms. Moretz! Many people even backed up these stars, like the famous singer Pink.

Of course Kim chose to fire back very over the top and offensive comments at all of these people, and she usually is very non confrontational on social media. Many people have made jokes that it’s Kanye tweeting for Kim, considering all of his bizarre and attention seeking tweets he makes regularly now.

Now, I know a lot of women believe that this is all so offensive and that all women should embrace their sexuality and be totally comfortable with themselves. While I do agree with that, I believe it’s also possible to be over the top within doing that. Kim Kardashian is 35 years old now, with two children. Yes, she did spark a lot of media attention from her sex tape as well.

But let’s be honest, when you think of Kim, do you think of her using her fame for the better by being an advocate for many good organizations or actually being in successful movie productions or shows, working extremely hard? Maybe even writing a book? Probably not. Kim has served as a sex symbol ever since her tape. Yes she has a video game, and is on the famous Kardashian reality show. But I don’t consider Kim to be an empowering woman whatsoever. She has had fame given to her. She wouldn’t have done a lot of the things she has if it wasn’t for her sex tape. While that was so many years ago, it still happened. She needs to deal with the life-long consequences that resulted from her decision, and quit complaining.

I know many people will disagree with my stance on this. While I’m all for girl power and believe girls can achieve anything- scratch that, anyone can achieve anything they set their mind to. I’m not saying Kim is wrong for “Embracing her sexuality.” However, I do believe that many other people’s stances against Kim were very correct regarding this issue. Kim doesn’t set a positive example, and has never been an advocate for teaching women the value of themselves mentally or logically.

I also personally believe she does a lot of this for attention, not wanting people to forget about her. She posted that selfie not because she had nothing to wear, but because she knew it would spark attention. Kim is known for being a huge drama queen on the show, and continues to always seek attention.

So, that’s why I don’t stand with Kim Kardashian, but instead the other various stars who lashed out at her. While I don’t think they necessarily had to tweet at Kim directly and start a lot of controversy, I do agree with every point that was mentioned- and believe people should be encouraged to not just use their body to advance in life. Yes, you should be proud of your body. But also set an example to be a positive role model amongst others, and be a good and strong person who wants to serve and make others happy. There’s so much more to life than just sex appeal.
