Let's be real: the best part about Valentine's Day is the candy, the beautiful flowers, and huge stuffed animals. Well unfortunately for us single gals, we do not have anyone in our lives to provide these things for us. But why should we rely on a man to do this when we have each other? That's when the term "Galentine's Day" comes into play.
This "holiday trend" has been a thing for a long time, but has more recently been popularized by Leslie Knope (aka Parks and Rec). Leslie throws a special Valentine's party the day before the holiday of love every year with special women in her life...hence, Galentine's Day! The celebration is filled with a gift exchange among the friends as well as a time of reflection to share how important true friendship is.
So, why are we wasting our time trying to find a special man to take us out for a fondue dinner and not focusing on letting the people we ACTUALLY love in our life know that? Here are some ways that you and your best gal pals can have a Galentine's Day you will never forget.
1. Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate
Personally, these are my three favorite things in life. What better way to celebrate a gathering than sipping some bubbly while talking about the douchebag who dumped you during your high school homecoming while shoving your face with amazing food? Sounds like a perfect night to me!
2. Watch a Rom-Com
A girls night is never complete without Ryan Gosling and "The Notebook". If you are feeling down about not having that perfect love story, then make a drinking game out of it!
3. Have a Spa Night
There is no better feeling than pampuring yourself when there is no one else around who can! Bring out the crazy nail polish colors and relax with the people who care about you the most.
4. Gift Exchange
Think White Elephant gift exchange except Valentine's Day themed. This will provide humor for your party as well as some new gifts. Who knows, maybe you'll finally get that jumbo teddy bear you have always wanted!
5. Truth or Dare
This is a must. You may think that you know your best friends well, but this is when all of the juicy secrets come out. It's like junior high all over again but with better secrets and being around the people who truly matter.
