Are you tired of sitting at work or in the classroom all week? Are you looking for a reason to party this weekend?

If you answered yes to both of those questions, then keep on reading! With Labor Day coming up this weekend, now is your chance to let loose and do something fun with your family and friends. Whether you want to go crazy or just lay back and relax, you can enjoy your three-day weekend by checking out these fun filled labor day events and ideas!

1. Buccaneer State Park

If you're looking to spend this weekend in peace and have some relaxing family time, this might be the spot for you. Take a stroll down a 1.8 mile, self-guided nature trail and observe nature in its most natural setting.

If you would rather relax on a blanket and have a picnic, check out the picnic area with beautiful oak trees, picnic tables, barbecue grills, and a playground for the kiddos. Too quiet? Don’t worry, Buccaneer State Park is also home to Buccaneer Bay! Come splash around in this wet and wild water park that overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. With a wave pool, two thrilling water slides and kiddie pool, this place won’t disappoint!

2. Louisiana Seafood Festival

If you're looking for a wild party, then you should come down to New Orleans for Louisiana’s annual Seafood Festival. The festival kicks off September 2 and the party goes on until September 4. It's located on the Festival Grounds in City Park. Enjoy three days of seafood, cocktails, live music and family fun; and you can meet some pretty interesting people! You won’t be bored in New Orleans because Louisianians always can find a reason to celebrate!

3. USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park

What better way to show your appreciation for the American Military than by visiting America’s most unique military attraction?! Take a self-guided tour through the USS Alabama Battleship and see what it was like first hand to be part of the crew. Guests can see where the crew slept, where they ate and where they worked all day in various parts of the ship. It’s very hot around this time of the year, and unfortunately there is no air conditioning on the battleship, so I would recommend bringing a few bottles of water and maybe a battery operated fan to cool off with!

4. Kick it at the Beach

If you're not into nature, water parks, seafood or historical sites, the beach might be a good place for you! Gulf Shores and Orange Beach in Alabama are the closest and most popular spots to hangout and have a good time. Set up an umbrella and chairs close to the shoreline and spend your weekend basking in the sun. If you get bored with that, no worries! Walk on down to the Hangout located right on the beach in Gulf Shores. If you're over twenty one, enjoy a drink at the Mermaid Bar or the Daiquiri Bar.

If you’re hungry, chow down at the restaurant indoors! And if you're just looking for some fun, the Hangout always has things going on, like their hourly foam party, a giant sand pit, courtyard games, T-shirt shops and cool places to take pictures. If that seems more like your type of party then come Hangout!

5. Electric Zoo Festival

Finally, the most exciting one for last, the Electric Zoo Festival! If you're feeling like a spontaneous trip to New York City for Labor Day weekend, you should definitely be raving at this unmissable electronic dance party located in Randall’s Island Park in New York City. The festival starts September 2 and lasts until September 4. Bang your head with other hardcore EDM lovers to both top name artists and some underground artists. To purchase your last minute tickets, go online to www.electriczoofestival.com. It’s not too late to gather up some of your wildest friends and head out this weekend!

I hope this gave you some ideas and will get you out of your house this weekend to your life as an American! If you're still unsure, talk to your friends or family! Together you can come up with something to do. Whatever it is you decide to do this weekend, make sure it is one hundred percent fun filled, because what better way to salute America’s workers than by showing them a rockin’ good time?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
