Freshman year: the time to find your independence in the big bad world of college. It's a year of firsts including your first breakdown from failing a test, first time having less that twenty dollars in your bank account and the first time you'll have to share your space with another person you met on Facebook a couple months before leaving home. Some people are lucky enough to have a freshman year room-mate that will be beside them for the next three college years and possibly for the rest of their life. Others find themselves switching between room-mates due to it just not working out, their room-mate transferring or perhaps they are the problem themselves. Luckily for me, my freshman year room-mate became one of my closet friends and no matter what we may face in our college years or life itself, I will always be there for her no matter what. For me, this article is mainly a"thank you" letter to her for putting up with all my drama for a year and re-enlisting to go back into the crossfire that is my life.
Thank you for becoming my substitute mom.
Whether it be waking me up for class, the classic “Elizabeth” outcry when I wouldn’t move after bugging me for an hour, or the “shouldn’t you study for your test tomorrow?” Jean would be proud.
Thank you for listening to my long high school stories about people you’ve never met.
“Okay so he the one with the weird sister or the one where he dated some girl in high school while leaving for college?"
"No no, you're very close yet so very far from the conversation."
Thank you for attempting to teach me how to dance and then giving up altogether.
Twerking+Liz= Disturbing Images.
Thank you for Facebook stalking our new suite-mates together before we moved in.
*panic ensues after not finding one*
“Definitely an ex-murderer.”
Thank you for not judging me for eating a whole bag of salt and vinegar chips by myself in one sitting.
You also rock for asking if I wanted popcorn afterwards.
Thank you for rubbing my back that one night I came home really drunk.

Thank you for those late night talks that can run for hours until one of us breaks it up so we can sleep.
"You see, Jen, I think that the sky should actually be a magenta..."
"Jen?"
*snores*
Thank you for listening about me talk about my long distance boyfriend and all the arguments we’ve had this year.
*crying ensues*
“You guys will be fine in five minutes, please.”
Thank you for telling me “You got this” before every exam even if I really didn’t have it.
Sorry I let you down in calculus but there really wasn’t anything anyone could do.
Most importantly, thank you for becoming one of my best friends and continuing to live with me next year!
Thank you Jenna! I may not say it enough, but I can not imagine what my freshman year or even my life at this point would have been if we didn't decide to Facebook message each other one random day. Love you more!
