I wasn't going to write this. I was going to write a short fantasy story cause that is what I want to do as an author for Odyssey and in general. It's a big part of how I want to live my life, but due to those who have perish today, I think this piece would be more appropriate.
Early today I heard about it on Facebook, while also trying to get my claim for a replacement Note Four.
The deaths of World Wrestling Federation legend Joanie Laurer, known as Chyna and Pop/rock legend, Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist forever known as "Prince."
A moment of silence for both of them...they will be forever missed but never forgotten.
Every time I hear about a celebrity death or a death of a seemingly healthy, happy person, it drives home how fragile we are as a race; our lives are not promised to us, that much is certain. Accidents, disease, age, heredity, genetics, emotional states, humans; the list of what can kill us is as wide and vast as the stars above us. It's no wonder why it so surprising to hear someone reaching ages of 80 and 90 years of age is surprising.
This article isn't really about how fragile we are and how we should take care of ourselves more. No, because in the end anything and everything is capable of killing you, health be damned. No, this is more about how important it is to recognize our fragility and use that knowledge to live a life that you can be happy with.
You might be thinking now that this is a long PSA for healthy and spiritual living -- how one should move closer to God and watch what they eat -- how one should go after your dreams before it's too late.
No..this is not.
More than likely, I do not know you. I will never meet you. So I can not dictate or even advise you how to live. Those who I probably do know on a personal level and are reading this, more than likely are living a life they are proud of.
And that is the main idea of this article. To live a life you are happy and proud of. Last thing you want to do is not be happy with your life at the end of your life. This doesn't mean you have to take the spotlight if you're shy. You don't have to become the most extravagant and influential person you know. You don't have to join a religion, become spiritually aware or take that dream vacation. Not unless you want to, of course.
I would say though, and this is from personal experience, to simply have or do something that resonates with you and enriches your existence. Live a life according to what makes you happy. It doesn't have to be world changing; you don't have to make a lot of money or anything of the sort, but it should allow you to fell happy and prideful about your life. It has to be something that makes love your life more. Something that, if you were to die this moment, you wouldn't feel regret but peace.
Our lives are fragile and can cut short instantly. Why shouldn't we be proud and happy of it at the very end?
Now, if you excuse me i'm going write a a bit of my story, play a bit of my video games and basically do what makes my life more fulfilling. I suggest you do the same.
