The Best Fort Collins Coffee Shops

This week Northern Colorado is supposed to be getting a heavy dusting of snow and the temperatures for the week are going to be much colder than the last couple weeks. So where are the best places to hunker down with a cup of coffee, trying to knock out those first couple assignments of the semester? Here are some of the top options that Fort Collins has for you to get comfy and caffeinated this week!

Momo Lolo Coffee House

Momo Lolo’s is one of my favorite places to go to get my homework done. The coffee house is small but brightly lit by natural light and the yellow walls will instantly make you smile. It’s a great place to work because it’s never too crowded, it’s never too loud and the work environment is perfect for people who like to take a break to people watch. While I have not tried all of their menu options, their lattes and chai tea are a must try.

The Bean Cycle

The Bean Cycle is a perfect spot for book lovers and caffeine addicts alike to huddle inside on a cold, snowy day. The used bookstore in the back of shop will make you feel at home, as well as the comfy seating area. The pastries and cappuccinos are perfect to get you through a little mid-day to evening studying before heading back out into the iciness.

Mugs Coffee Lounge

Mugs is in the perfect location to wait out the cold before heading to your next class this week. Located right across from the Oval, Mugs Coffee Lounge is locally owned and operated. The cozy little shop is a great place to grab a cup of joe and a bagel, especially before your 8 a.m. class.

Alleycat Coffee House

Opened 24 hours a day Alleycat is the place to go for college students who don’t feel like going home after a full day of classes. The intimate coffee house is located close enough to campus that it's perfect for late night studying whether you live off campus or on. Their specialty coffees and teas are some of the best around Fort Collins so stop in and warm your fingers up around a nice mug of tea.

Wild Boar Cafe

The Wild Boar Cafe is not just a great coffee shop—it's also a great place to grab lunch during your busy week. The homey cafe is a great place to warm up, just take a seat on the couches right next to the roaring fire. Located across from campus on the other side of College, Wild Boar is a perfect place to warm up and work.

So if you are stranded between classes at any point this week pick a shop and enjoy!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
