Over the years as we grow, we make new friends, but we also lose friends as well. However, there is one person or more that sticks with us all the way through our lives. That person is your Best Friend. This person will stick by your side, no matter what the situation is, and will help you in following your dreams.
For myself, I have three best friends that I have been friends with for years, and we try our best to stay in touch. That is the key though. Staying connected, and always being there for them when they need you the most. By being in different towns for school and work, it's hard to stay as connected as we were in high school.
During this past week, I noticed the changes in my friends, but I had to take a step back to really see them. Even though we have been friends for so long, and have gotten to know each other extremely well, I couldn't help but notice that we are growing up. We are changing into our true-selves, the person we have been working our way up to as we grow into adults. It's scary, but exciting at the same time.
Furthermore, I learned that no matter how much you grow up, the person you were as a child is still there, and will always be. Just this past week, my friends and I went to the Akron Zoo. We had so much fun, but the best part was how quiet the zoo was since barely anyone was there. The four of us ran to our favorite animals, like a kid would, and got super excited when an animal came close to the glass. We even went down the tube slide as the otters swam around you. Just warning- there is no soft landing!
Although, as I reflect on the photo of my friends, I know that we will never part, even if we move to different parts of the world. We will go through phrases, heart-breaks, funerals, and other experiences that won't break us apart from one another. The experiences will bring us only closer together. Our bond, as if we pinky-tied our fingers together, will stay true, and won't be broken. The connection we have, and the challenges we have been through so far, keeps us alive. It's memories that we will never forget and will cherish for the rest of our lives.
In the future, I can't wait to see where we end up and the many adventures that we will have together. I love you my almost-sisters, my beautiful nerds, and I can't wait till we get together again. Until then, à bientôt mes amies!
